No college football team has ever broken a double-digit losing streak against a top-10 ranked opponent. That is, until Oklahoma State upset Oregon on Saturday, Sept. 12.
The Cowboys broke the nation's longest losing streak (12) against the No. 6 Ducks, defeating one of the expected top national championship contenders 39-32 in Week 2 at home. It's quite the turnaround for Oklahoma State, which was upset by in-state rival Tulsa 24-10 in Week 1 and fell to Oregon 69-3 on the road last season, leading to the firing of former longtime coach Mike Gundy.
Second-year coach Eric Morris and his offense led by North Texas transfer quarterback Drew Mestemaker
looked like the attack all of college football expected this season. Mestemaker threw for 317 yards with two touchdowns while rushing for 109 yards and a score in the win, playing like one of the top available transfer portal quarterbacks.
There's still plenty of season left for both teams, which both appear to be trending in opposite directions. Oklahoma State bounce back after Week 1, though, so why can't Oregon?
Here's how the college football world reacted to Oklahoma State's surprise upset over Oregon in Week 2:
