Dan Levy isn't amused by Shane Gillis' "SNL" monologue.
The "Schitt's Creek" star, 43, took to Instagram on Oct. 11 to slam the comedian's controversial monologue on "Saturday Night Live." Though Levy didn't mention Gillis by name, he referenced his "SNL" material and said he was "speechless that something like that can exist on live, national television."
In his Oct. 10 monologue, Gillis joked, "I haven't been to the gym in so long, I didn't know women just dress like whores now.
"Women wearing short shorts to the gym does not make them whores," Levy said in a video on his Instagram story. "It makes the men calling them whores misogynists. There's a difference there. By the way, I've seen more men's nipples at the gym than I've ever seen women
showing their bodies off."

Levy added that "more men need to be standing up in opposition" to these kinds of comments because "it's complacency that has created the environment" in which women are sexually assaulted. "Men need to be defending women more. This is not a women's issue. This is an everybody issue."
In a previous Instagram story that also appeared to be inspired by Gillis' monologue, Levy bemoaned the "vile, repugnant, disgusting trash" that has been "pouring out of people's mouths" lately.
Gillis' "SNL" monologue stirred controversy on social media while it was airing. One X user said it "turns my stomach" that there were people "who found his disgusting bit of so-called humor" about women at the gym funny.
Gillis' Oct. 10 episode was his third time hosting "SNL." The comedian is known for bringing controversial stand-up material to the show each time he hosts, including in 2024, when he joked about having family members with Down syndrome during his debut monologue.
In 2019, Gillis was set to join the cast of "SNL," but he was fired before the season premiere over racist comments. At the time, executive producer Lorne Michaels said "SNL" was not aware of Gillis' past "offensive, hurtful and unacceptable" language. Michaels has since said he was unhappy with the firing and that it was NBC's decision to remove Gillis.
In his Oct. 10 monologue, Gillis also joked about going on a hike and trying to not seem like a threat to a "beautiful woman" who was by herself, and he closed by joking that he has "balded directly into an Adolf Hitler haircut" but can't adjust his hair without looking "gay."
"You're either gay or you're Hitler, and isn't that where we're at as a country?" he said.
Later in the show, Gillis broke character during a sketch after accidentally using the f-word, which was broadcast on NBC uncensored. He apologized both at the end of the sketch and while closing the show.
