Megan Thee Stallion is taking care of "me and mine" following a medical emergency and highly publicized split earlier this year.
The "Whenever" singer opened up about her brief hospitalization that cut her time on Broadway short, telling Marie Claire in her September cover story that she thought she was "having a stroke."
Just one week after she had begun her run on "Moulin Rouge! The Musical," Megan, after a lot of convincing, was rushed to the hospital on March 31 after she started feeling "very ill" during a show.
"I wasn’t getting any oxygen to my brain, so my hands had froze," she told Marie Claire. "My face had froze. I was trying to tell everybody that I don’t think I’m okay. They only thought I was dehydrated."
When Megan finally made it
to the hospital, she discovered she was having a panic attack and was exhibiting signs of exhaustion. Megan admitted she had been showing up to the job "a little bit mentally not okay," revealing that she hadn't been eating or hydrating properly in the days leading up to her hospital scare.
"I don’t think I was aware of how much I was going to be putting my body through," Megan told the magazine, adding that she "didn't want to let anyone down."
The Houston-born rapper returned to the stage two days later and remained in the production as Zidler, or the show's emcee and nightclub owner, until May 1, when she ended her run two weeks early.
Megan was honored to be part of the show despite the scare, calling her involvement in the production "one of the best experiences, as a performer, in my life."
'A real wake-up call,' Megan Thee Stallion says of hospitalization
Megan is working on "trying to stay more hydrated and be more calm" following her medical scare. The "Bigger In Texas" star reflected on the harrowing experience in an April 1 Instagram post, describing it as "a real wake-up call."
"I’ve been pushing myself past my limits lately, running on empty, and my body finally said enough. It honestly scared me," she said. "I thought I was gonna faint on stage, I really tried to push through my performance but I just couldn’t."

She added: "I just need one day to rest, reset, and take care of myself the way I should have been. I’ll be right back on that stage Thursday (April 2), stronger, clearer, and ready to give you 100% the way you deserve."
Days before exiting "Moulin Rouge! The Musical," Megan confirmed her breakupwith former Dallas Mavericks player Klay Thompson, who she had previously accused of infidelity, in a statement shared with USA TODAY.
"Trust, fidelity and respect are non-negotiable for me in a relationship, and when those values are compromised, there’s no real path forward," she said. "I’m taking this time to prioritize myself and move ahead with peace and clarity."
Megan wasn't forced to leave "Moulin Rouge! The Musical" and Zidler in the rearview, as she got the chance to reprise the character at the Tony Awards in June. "It was amazing," she said. "I was so happy."
In addition to releasing new music, such as "Tina Tuesday Freestyle" on Tuesday, Sept. 29, the multi-hyphenate is gearing up to perform at the 2026 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, which is set to take place Oct. 18 in Los Angeles.
