Kelly Clarkson isn't the only star who's experienced retail regret.
The Grammy-winning singer made headlines over the weekend after criticizing Brooklyn, New York, store Art of Play for allegedly mistreating her during a recent visit.
In an Oct. 10 X post, Clarkson reflected that although she "had a few things in mind to buy" at the curiosity shop, she was purportedly "looked at as if I couldn't afford it and was told [by a sales attendant that] he could find something comparable for me."
The "Since U Been Gone" singer likened the alleged incident to a scene from the Julia Roberts film "Pretty Woman," in which Roberts' character goes shopping and is rudely told that she's "in the wrong place" because the clothing there is too expensive for her.
The store has since fired back at Clarkson's claim, alleging the item she'd inquired about purchasing − a "one-of-a-kind singing and dancing bird automaton" − was not for sale. However, Clarkson maintains that the decoration had a price tag attached.
Clarkson joins an outspoken circle of A-listers who've criticized stores for their poor customer service.

Oprah Winfrey
In 2013, talk-show host and media mogul Oprah Winfrey alleged she had a racist encounter while shopping for handbags in Switzerland.
Winfrey, whose current net worth is $3.4 billion, told "Entertainment Tonight" at the time that a shop assistant in Zurich refused to show her a Tom Ford Jennifer bag, priced at $38,000, because it was "too expensive" for her, according to The Associated Press.
Cardi B
Rapper Cardi B alleged in a 2018 X post that she was frequently the subject of retail mistreatment while shopping at luxury stores.
"Every time I go to a high-end store dressed regular, the salesperson treats me [badly]!" Cardi wrote. "I get reminded of the 'Selena' movie." The 1997 biopic of Tejano singer Selena Quintanilla features a scene in which Selena (played by Jennifer Lopez) is snubbed by a salesperson while shopping for a dress.
"Then somebody always comes in like, 'Cardi, I'm your biggest fan,' and [their] attitude changes," Cardi added.
Savannah James
In August, Savannah James, wife of NBA star LeBron James, recounted a pair of shopping incidents during a joint interview on the "Question Everything" podcast with friend April McDaniel.
McDaniel said the women were allegedly turned away at an Hermès store in Europe, even though the pair had made an appointment to shop at the French luxury retailer.
James and McDaniel alleged a similar incident took place at a Chanel store in France, where James was repeatedly instructed by a sales associate to not touch a miniature handbag on display.
Leona Lewis
British pop singer and "X Factor" alum Leona Lewis shared in a 2020 social media post that she and her father were allegedly racially profiled while shopping in London.
Lewis said the father-daughter pair was told to put down the items they'd been looking at because they were "not allowed to touch it." The singer added that the store's owner threatened to call the police after Lewis questioned the retailer's instructions.
"I couldn't calm down because I was so angry," Lewis said in an Instagram video. "I knew what this woman was doing to us. But my dad has been in positions like this before — same as me but in a different way — and he knew that I needed to make myself smaller, and I needed to make myself calm, and that just enraged me even more. He managed to get me to leave the store, and I sat in the car that was parked around the corner from the store, and I sat in there, and I sobbed. I absolutely sobbed."
