John Boyega is opening up about two major developments in his personal life that he's kept private until now.
The "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" actor, 34, revealed in a recent interview with The Guardian that he privately married nearly two years ago and has embraced fatherhood.
"I've been married for coming up to two years now," he told the outlet for the story published Oct. 4. "My baby’s on the way. We got a baby cooking."
He and his wife, whom he didn't name, are expecting a son. Boyega also has a stepson.
"So, you know, my life is completely, completely fulfilled in terms of family. It’s been so nice with the timing," Boyega added. "Us being parents is funny! I just want to make sure I’m present, I’m consistent and full of love."
The England-born
film producer shared that the couple had a small ceremony similar to the wedding from "Braveheart." During the interview, he mimicked the character from the 1995 historical drama film, pretending to plant a sword in the ground and quipping, "Will you come with me?"
John Boyega says he's tried to 'de-center' his career
The actor's latest chapter of marriage and parenthood arrived after he intentionally shifted his priorities.
"I’ve tried to as much as possible – especially following periods when I’ve worked a lot – to de-center my career," he said. "There have been certain moments when I’ve known that this is a time for family. Y’know, there’s stuff to do."

His refocusing largely explains his absence from the public eye, though he is becoming vulnerable again in the BBC documentary, "Damilola: The Untold Story." The project features an interview with Boyega as he delves into the 2000 death of his childhood friend and how that tragedy shaped his life.
"I do think it’s important to reach back and tell people the grounded realities of your origins, because it wasn’t until I knew the grounded realities of other people’s origins that I decided to pursue something more," he told the Guardian.
In the documentary, which aired on Oct. 5, Boyega said that he quickly realized he wanted to pursue acting after the death of Damilola Taylor, a Nigerian schoolboy who was fatally stabbed in London at age 10.
"Cause at 10 years old, I got my scholarship to Theatre Peckham. I was in pursuit of this from that moment forward, because of the reality of what could potentially happen," Boyega said in the documentary. "I was exposed to a lot, so at a very young age, I knew what I wanted to do."
