Texas high school football has no shortage of great matchups this week but arguably the biggest game of the week pits a pair of Super 15 southwest teams squaring off as the region's No. 2 in Waxahachie (TX) travels to No. 7 Guyer (TX) on Sept. 10.
Both teams enter this game unbeaten and have not faced off on the gridiron for nearly two decades. That drought ends on Thursday night.

- In the only meeting between these two programs, Guyer won that game back in 2010 by a score of 45-7.
- The Wildcats have leaned heavily on their ground game so far this season. As a team, they've rushed for 178 yards but five different players have scored a rushing touchdown.
- Guyer has three different defensive linemen committed to Power Four programs. Four-star Zane Rowe is committed to Oregon, three-star Darrien Neal is a TCU pledge and three-star Khyren Haywood is committed to Texas Tech.
Waxahachie football: What to know
- After opening the season with a 72-point outburst against Ennis (TX), Waxahachie was in a dogfight in its Week 2 game, only beating Coppell 27-24.
- Taylen Strange carried Waxahachie to that Week 2 win rushing for 136 yards and three touchdowns. On the season he has 30 carries for 257 yards and five touchdowns.
- South Carolina commit Jerry Meyer III has completed 68% of his passes this season for 537 yards and six touchdowns with a pair of interceptions.
