Despite making the bench for AC Milan's first three games of the season, Christian Pulisic has yet to see the field during the 2026-27 campaign.
The American forward has been working his way back from an injury suffered in the World Cup, but has been back in training since mid August.
Pulisic suffered a bone bruise and microfracture
in his right tibia and fibula during the U.S. men's national team's loss to Belgium in the World Cup round of 16.After Milan's latest match, a 1-1 draw with Juventus on Sunday, Sept. 6, Rossoneri head coach Ruben Amorim said he is still managing Pulisic's minutes — but 19-year-old Alphadjo Cisse may also have taken his spot for now.
“Pulisic is back from injury, I’m managing him. For now, Alpha is taking his place,”
Amorim said in his post-match press conference.
Cisse has started the season with two goals in three games, including the opener against Juventus on Sunday. Federico Gatti scored a stoppage-time equalizer for Juventus to deny Milan all three points.
Pulisic scored 10 goals in the first half of last season, but he will be eager to see the field after he failed to score a single goal in the second half of the 2025-26 campaign.
The 27-year-old didn't make the impact he would have liked at a World Cup on home soil, battling through a calf injury before suffering a second injury against Belgium. He failed to score in four appearances, notching one assist.
Milan will next be in action against Lazio on Saturday, Sept. 12 before kicking off its Europa League campaign against Benfica on Sept. 16.
