An unruly American Airlines passenger was removed from a plane in Florida.
Flight 1779 from Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport to Miami International Airport was met by law enforcement upon arrival “due to a disruptive customer,” the carrier said. The Sept. 11 flight landed at 11:23 p.m., roughly an hour and a half later than scheduled, according to flight-tracking site Flightradar24
.“The individual was removed from the aircraft,” American Airlines told USA TODAY in an emailed statement. “The safety and security of our customers and team members is our top priority. We apologize to our customers for the inconvenience and thank our crew members for their professionalism.”
The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office said its deputies
responded to the plane “regarding a disturbance on board.”
“The preliminary investigation revealed that the disturbance happened in flight, which prompted MDSO to reach out to the FBI,” police said in an email. The FBI took over the investigation.
AIRLIVE.net reported that a female flyer seated in the ninth row took off her clothes and engaged in sexually explicit conduct during the trip, citing Aircraft Communications Addressing and Reporting System logs.
The airline and the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office did not share specifics about the passenger’s behavior or nature of the disturbance. The FBI did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
The FAA has received 1,200 reports of unruly passengers so far this year as of Sept. 5, according to its website. There were 1,621 reports in all of 2025, down from 2,096 the year before.
