Carol City (Miami, Fla.), which was ranked No. 20 in USA TODAY Sports preseason Super 25, escaped West Boca 24-23 in a preseason overtime thriller on Friday, Aug. 14, at West Boca Raton Stadium.
In the first play of overtime, Carol City quarterback Malik Leonard found 5-star Miami wide receiver commit Nick Lennear in the corner of the endzone to pull ahead.

Both Leonard and Lennear transferred to Carol City this season after the Chiefs hired former Chaminade-Madonna offensive coordinator Toro Wallace as its next head coach.
West Boca was quick to respond as quarterback Trey Moran found his way into the endzone.
The Chiefs, however, stopped the Bulls on a 2-point conversion to come away with the win.
Overtime is becoming a common occurrence between these two Florida powerhouses. Last Saturday, Aug. 8, these two teams went to four overtimes in 7-on-7 action in the championship game of the 305 Sports Invitational.
Miami Carol City comes of a 6-5 2025 season, while West Boca is coming off of back-to-back Florida High School Athletic Association Class 6A state championships.
