Injuries have been an unfortunate hallmark of Joe Burrow's career. He's dealing with another one as the Cincinnati Bengals enter Week 2.
The Bengals passer landed on the injury report with a back injury this week. It's unclear when the injury occurred, or how serious it is. What is clear is that the passer vowed to be on the field this Sunday, Sept. 20 when the Bengals face the Houston Texans.
"If I'm not getting surgery, I'm going to be out there," Burrow said Wednesday.
He might not be getting surgery, but he still landed on the injury report ahead of Week 2. Here's the latest on Burrow's availability this Sunday:
Is Joe Burrow playing Week 2?
Burrow's gameday status is listed as "questionable." The quarterback, however, said he plans to play.
Burrow was a limited participant
in Wednesday and Thursday practices, but was a full participant in Friday's practice. That signals a positive trajectory for Burrow's availability for Week 2.
Inactives are released 90 minutes before game time, so Burrow's official game availability will be noted at roughly 11:30 a.m. ET.
Joe Burrow injury update
During his Wednesday media availability, Burrow described his injury as "back tightness." He dismissed the notion of not wanting to play Sunday as "ridiculous," and said he would be on the field barring surgery.
It's unclear when Burrow was injured, but more important, it doesn't seem to be anything that will keep the passer out of game action, in Week 2 and beyond.
