ESPN's "College GameDay" is staying in Utah for Week 8 of the college football season, as the crew will be on site for No. 9 Utah vs. No. 16 Houston on Saturday, Oct. 20, in Salt Lake City.
Who will be the celebrity guest picker?
Legendary Utah quarterback Alex Smith was the guest picker last season when the show visited Utah's campus in Salt Lake City. Two years prior to then, former Utes and NFL receiver Steve Smith Sr. came on the show.
Maybe "GameDay" will go back to Smith or Smith Sr. — or maybe they'll shake it up and find another celebrity with connections to Salt Lake City, the state of Utah or the Utes.
There aren't a ton of obvious high-profile
options for the Big 12 powerhouse, but here are a few options for "GameDay" to consider ahead of Utah-Houston in Week 8:
Who will be 'College GameDay' guest picker for Utah-Houston?
Eric Weddle
Eric Weddle, one of the best players in Utah history, was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in January and will likely be a top option for "College GameDay."
The 2006 consensus All-American was drafted in the second round of the 2007 NFL Draft before becoming a five-time All-Pro and six-time Pro Bowler at safety. He did a bit of everything for Utah in college, notching 143 total tackles with 18 interceptions while also returning punts and playing some running back (he rushed for 203 yards with five scores as a senior).
Weddle's son, Gaige Weddle, a four-star safety in the class of 2028, has an offer from Utah, too.
Dalton Kincaid
The Buffalo Bills are on bye in Week 7 of the NFL season, which would open up former Utah tight end Dalton Kincaid for "GameDay." A first-round pick in 2023, Kincaid has 179 receptions for 2,007 yards with 10 touchdowns in his NFL career. He finished his senior season at Utah with 890 yards and eight touchdowns in 2022.
Cole Bishop
Kincaid isn't the only Buffalo Bill to have played at Utah, as Bills starting safety Cole Bishop is also a recent Utes standout.
Bishop, a second-round pick in 2024, finished the 2025 season with two sacks and three interceptions for the Bills. The former teammate of Kincaid finished his college career with 197 total tackles with 7.5 sacks and three interceptions.
Maybe "GameDay" will invite both onto the show?
Steve Smith Sr.
The Utah legend last appeared on "College GameDay" in 2023 when the Utes hosted Oregon. The four-time NFL All-Pro could get the call again from the show. Smith Sr. played two seasons for Utah after transferring from JUCO Santa Monica college, finishing his Division I career with 78 receptions for 1,603 yards with 12 touchdowns from 1999-2000.
Post Malone
It's a long shot, but maybe "College GameDay" could get famed musical artist Post Malone as the guest picker.
Post Malone lives near Salt Lake City, and his song "Something Real" was used as ESPN's college football anthem in 2023. He's not affiliated with the Utes, nor is he necessarily a lifelong fan or fan at all of the program, but he'd likely be a hit among the fan base, given his star power.
