Curry Barker, the mastermind behind the spring horror hit "Obsession", is back with another film in time for Halloween.

On Oct. 29, that's a bad idea, a horror-comedy production company run by Barker and Cooper Tomlinson, who co-produced and starred in "Obsession," published a horror short on YouTube called "Mama Bear". As of Oct. 30, the short has more than 1 million views and 3,700 comments, with fans showing their support for the 27-year-old director's latest project.

"Bro's making short films when he's already a big name for horror directors," one YouTube user commented on the short film. "That's how you know this is just for the love of the game."

Some viewers speculate that the short is

a teaser for Barker and Tomlinson's in-production film, "Anything but Ghosts," set to release on May 7, 2027. In the upcoming horror film, two fake paranormal investigators are forced to face real ghosts while dealing with the deception in their own business, according to IMDb.

Released in May, "Obsession" broke multiple box office records. It is the only wide-release horror film to grow in its second weekend, grossing $22.4 million, up 30% over its opening weekend, Blumhouse Productions CEO Jason Blum explained in an X post.

During its opening weekend, "Obsession" garnered $17.2 million from more than 2,600 movie theaters, Variety and Bloody Disgusting reported. As of Oct. 30, the film has a 93% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

With Halloween near, here's what to know about Barker's "Mama Bear."

What is the horror short about?

Set in a home, "Mama Bear" opens with the main character, Floyd, a house cleaner, answering a distressed call from a friend. Over the phone, the friend warns Floyd that Lacey is going to kill him. After the call is disconnected, Floyd finds a bloody heart sitting on a table near the couch he had been napping on before and notices an eerie, unknown character moving around in the corner of the room.

As he puts the pieces together, Ms. Wilson, the owner of the home Floyd is cleaning, arrives and is equally confused by the heart and unknown man. Suddenly, Lacey bursts through the front door with a loaded gun, shooting wildly. She shoots and kills Floyd before the unknown man shows himself in the light, appearing to be Floyd's doppelgänger.
