After testing six of this year's most popular Advent calendars for kids with my son, I've learned that not all 24-day countdowns are created equal. Some are exciting for about five minutes, while others deliver toys kids actually want to keep playing with long after Christmas. And while the Lego City Advent Calendar
earned our top spot, I've got my eye on another adorable option for little ones who love imaginative play. The Polly Pocket Advent Calendar combines two of my favorite things about Christmas countdowns: a new surprise every day and a toy that doesn't lose its appeal on Dec. 25. This holiday-themed gift set for kids includes a gingerbread house compact, a winter cabin playset, a Polly Pocket doll and plenty of festive accessories to decorate
and play with throughout the season.
More than 1,000 shoppers have already purchased it in the past month, which means this one might sell out soon. But at less than $20 on Amazon, it's a pretty cute way to make the countdown to Christmas a little more magical.
