Election day is almost here!
A tense election cycle is coming to a close in Georgia, and as candidates make their final pleas to the state's voters, it's important to make sure you're away of upcoming deadlines.
You have to be registered to vote before an election, so here is what to know about upcoming dates in the midterm elections.
When is the voter registration deadline?
The deadline to register to vote in Georgia is Monday, Oct. 5. This is also the first day that registered voters can begin to mail in their absentee ballots for the general election.
If you have previously voted in midterm primaries this year, you are already registered. You must be an American citizen, a legal resident of your county, at least 18 years old by the date of the election, not serving a conviction for
a felony or not deemed mentally incompetent by a judge to register to vote in Georgia.

When does early voting begin?
Early voting will take place over a three-week window from Tuesday, Oct. 13 to Friday, Oct. 30.
During early voting, you do not have to vote at your assigned polling location, but you must vote at a polling location in your county. Early voting is open Monday through Friday, and the second and third Saturdays before election day. Some polling locations may have additional hours on Sundays.
During the early voting period, the polling locations are typically open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekends, but exact hours may vary by location.

When is election day?
Election day is on Tuesday, Nov. 3.
All polling locations will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. If a polling location has to temporarily close for any reason, additional hours will be added to the polling period.
You will be unable to register to vote on election day, and must register before the voting registration deadline on Oct. 5.

There are three constitutional amendments on the ballot for Georgia:
- Increases the maximum qualifying acreage for assessment and taxation as bona fide conservation use property (House Resolution 32)
- Provides for the nonpartisan election of all probate court judges (House Resolution 251)
- Authorizes creation of Georgia Next Generation 9-1-1 Fund for 9-1-1 systems expansion, maintenance, and operation (House Resolution 1243)
