Chrysler isvoluntarily recalling nearly 75,000 Dodge Durangos over a possible defect with the rear spoiler that may cause it to detach from the vehicle.
According to a notice from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, FCA US, LLC discovered that certain Dodge Durango vehicle models "were built with rear spoilers that may be over-flush to the roof, allowing contact to the roof when cycling the liftgate."
"This recall is not related to a part defect but rather an assembly issue where the vehicle may have beenbuilt with an over-flush rear spoiler," the notice reads.
The Auburn Hills, Michigan-based automaker has recorded 161 instances "potentially relating to this issue" in all markets as of July 29. FCA US, LLC is unaware of any accidents
or injuries related to or caused by the defect.
The defect is specific to some 2021-2023 MY Dodge Durango vehicles, which were built with rear spoilers that may be over-flush to the roof, allowing contact to the roof when cycling the liftgate.
MY Dodge Durango vehicles manufactured after March 2023 were no longer built with a potential over-flush condition.

Which vehicles were recalled?
Dodge Durango vehicles manufactured between July 2020 and March 2023 were "potentially" involved in the recall.
The total number of Dodge Durango vehicle models affected by this recall is 74,578.
What affected vehicle owners should do
Since the remedy is "under development," affected vehicle owners should wait to receive a notification letter from FCA US, LLC. The automaker is in the process of notifying dealers and will begin to notify affected vehicles owners on or about Sept. 9.
