Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Keenan Allen has been arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol, just hours after playing in his first preseason game with the team.
The veteran wideout signed a one-year deal with the Colts less than two weeks ago after spending 12 seasons with the Los Angeles Chargers and one with the Chicago Bears.
"We are aware of the incident involving Keenan Allen last night. We are in the process of gathering more information and have no further comment at this time," the Colts said in a statement to the Indanapolis Star, part of the USA TODAY Network.
According to a Marion County (Indiana) inmate search, Allen was arrested early Sunday, Aug. 30, on preliminary charges of DUI with a blood alcohol content of 0.08
or more and DUI endangering a person. Both charges are misdemeanors.
Allen, 34, reunited with Colts coach Shane Steichen, who previously served on the Chargers' coaching staff from 2014-2020.
He is the Chargers' all-time leading receiver with 985 catches for 11,307 yards and 63 touchdowns.
Allen caught one pass for 24 yards in the Colts' final preseason game on Saturday afternoon, a 25-16 loss to the Detroit Lions.
His arrest comes just before NFL teams are required to reduce their rosters to 53 players on Sunday evening.
