Liverpool striker Alexander Isak is set to return to the club after suffering an injury during international duty with Sweden.
Despite scoring and playing the full 90 minutes in Sweden's 2-1 win over Romania in their UEFA Nations League B match on Friday, Sept. 25, the 27-year-old will not feature in their remaining matches over the international break.
"Alexander Isak is to return to Liverpool from international duty due to a minor injury," Liverpool wrote in a statement.
"The striker will not be involved in Sweden's three remaining fixtures in the current international break and will now be assessed by club medical staff at the AXA Training Centre."
"He's got a small problem with his thigh," Sweden manager Graham Potter said at a press conference.
"It's not a big one, but because of the amount of games we've got in a small space of time, he won't be able to make those.
"Not a big one, but it's frustrating for him and obviously for us. It is what it is, but we move forward with the players we have."
Isak's first season with Liverpool after a massive move from Newcastle United was riddled with injuries and inconsistent play.
During the 2025-26 campaign, Isak appeared in only 22 matches after suffering a leg fracture, which required surgery. After scoring an impressive 62 goals in 109 matches across all competitions for the Magpies, he only scored four in his first season at Liverpool.
This season, Isak has been in immense form, already equaling his goals total from last season, including scoring a brace against Premier League returnees Ipswich Town on Sept. 4.
Once the international window concludes, the Reds prepare for league leader Manchester City on Sunday, Oct. 11, at Anfield.
