After two weeks of waiting, Buford (Ga.) will finally get to see its five-star defensive lineman suit up for the Wolves.
Texas Tech commit Jalen Brewster has officially been ruled eligible to play for No. 4 Buford in its interstate matchup against Miami Central (Fla.) on Thursday, Sept. 10, according to Rivals' Chad Simmons.
Brewster announced his decision to transfer from Cedar Hill (Texas) High School following 2025 GHSA Class 6A state champion Buford's 39-19 win over Gainesville in its season opener that was broadcasted on ESPN.
While the Wolves were idle the following Friday, Aug. 28, Brewster was expected to make his debut against Mallard Creek on Friday, Sept. 4. However, the day before kickoff, Scott confirmed that the senior had not yet
submittedhis eligibility forms to GHSA ahead of the matchup and he did not appear in the game.
The Wolves pushed past the Mavericks in what was a defensive shutout — even without Brewster. Buford turned four first-half takeaways into touchdowns en route to a 41-7 win over Mallard Creek.
A 2026 preseason All-America first-team selection and ALL-USA Southwest first-team selection, Brewster is ranked as the No. 1 overall prospect in the USA TODAY Sports 2027 composite ranking.
He committed to Texas Tech last October, choosing the Red Raiders over Indiana, Ohio State and Texas A&M.
