Warning: The following contains major spoilers for the Wednesday, Sept. 30, episode of "Survivor 51."
The end of the "Survivor 51" premiere teased a severe injury one of the contestants experienced in the Wednesday, Sept. 30 episode.
Coming off the heels of the milestone 50th season, the new season marks the start of the new "open era," which host and producer Jeff Probst explained brings "permanent uncertainty."
Season 51 of the reality competition series has largely returned to form with a nostalgic marooning off a boat, the players being divided into two tribes instead of three, regular hidden immunity idols and the return of Exile Island.
The season kicked off with 21 contestants, with one player being exiled away. The Savu tribe found themselves
safe after winning the first immunity challenge, sending the Toka tribe to tribal council to decide who amongst them would be the first person voted out.
In the premiere, Jeff also revealed that the cast could compete for up to $2 million as part of the game-changing coin toss from Season 50, introduced by Mr. Beast. As Rick Devens did last season, a player must correctly call which side the coin will land on to double the prize pot, or their game ends immediately.
If the coin fails to land properly, then the prize will become $3 million, not for them but for the Season 52 cast. If the coin doesn't land properly in Season 52 then the prize raises to $4 million in Season 53, and so on.
Find out who is the second boot of the season and whether it's related to the bloody injury from last week's teaser.

Player chops off part of his thumb
08:31 PM ET, September 30 2026, Anthony RobledoBrady Booker's "Survivor" real life flashed before his eyes after he chopped off part of his thumb while chopping wood. The show censored his hand, though blood was visible.
"Did I just knock myself out of the game?" Brady asked a producer right after.
Cameras cut to part of his thumb on the ground as his tribemates panicked and a doctor examines him. Patt Cannaday holds the flesh that was chopped off on a shell in disbelief.
"What was I thinking," Brady says. "I've always been my own worst enemy and it always comes down to me not thinking and using the brain I'm blessed with."
The show's medical team treat his injury and later let him know that he will be okay and stay in the game, breathing new life into Brady's spirit.
Exiled player joins Toka tribe
08:21 PM ET, September 30 2026, Anthony RobledoIrish native and farmer Lewis Kelly has left exile island and is ready to start playing "Survivor."
After a few days isolated from the rest of the cast, he joined the Toka tribe to tribal council placing New Jersey chef Aaliyah Puglia, who was voted out in the premiere.
Lewis detailed his solo adventure and told the truth about his chance win a hidden immunity idol if he could chop down a tree with an axe before a sand glass timer ran out. He was honest about the fact that he did not win the idol but his tribemates weren't convinced.
