Tory Lanez will remain a married man for the foreseeable future.
Court records obtained by USA TODAY show that Los Angeles judge Nicole M. Heeseman dismissed his wife Raina Chassagne's divorce petition in July, with notice of the order officially issued Aug. 6.
Heeseman attributed the ruling to the pair's "failure to bring the action to judgment" in a timely manner.
Chassagne filed for divorce from the 34-year-old singer, born Daystar Peterson, on June 10, 2024, citing irreconcilable differences. This came less than a year after they tied the knot on June 25, 2023, and shortly before he began his 10-year prison sentence for shooting Megan Thee Stallion in 2020.
The former couple share son Kai'Lon, and Chassagne initially requested legal and physical
custody of him.
Following their split, Chassagne continued to show support for Lanez, sharing a Father's Day tribute on Instagram in June 2025.
"Happy Father’s Day to our rock❣️ you guys needed each other for sure. I was just the carrier for your twin lol. I love you and we can’t wait til you’re home poppa❤️ thank you for you and all you do.🥰 #freeyou," she captioned a carousel of photos showing Lanez and Kai'Lon together.
In 2022, Lanez was convicted on charges of assault with a semiautomatic firearm; having a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle; and discharging a firearm with gross negligence after he allegedly shot Megan Thee Stallion in the ankle during an argument in the Los Angeles area in 2020. He previously pleaded not guilty on all counts during his trial.
