Wish we were still laying a number inside a field goal but even with the hook, the Bengals might be my favorite bet on the board. Cincinnati just won outright in Houston as a road underdog, while Pittsburgh returned from New England after managing three points in an embarrassing loss. The Steelers have scored one touchdown through eight quarters and now face a rebuilt Bengals defense that forced four turnovers against Tampa Bay before keeping Houston out of the end zone. On the other side, Pittsburgh must contend with Joe Burrow, Ja'Marr Chase, Tee Higgins and Chase Brown. Cincinnati has too many advantages for me to overthink the hook. Truly, I love this spot.

The Steelers looked completely out
of sorts in New England, but this AFC North rivalry has a way of producing close games. Pittsburgh and Cincinnati split their two meetings last season by a combined five points, and winning on the road in the AFC North is never easy. Joey Porter Jr. could make his season debut after missing the first two games, which would be a major boost against Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins. His status remains something to monitor, but Pittsburgh needs all the help it can get against Cincinnati's passing attack. The Steelers' offense has plenty to prove. Aaron Rodgers and company have to find answers quickly, because this game could go a long way toward defining Pittsburgh's season. I'm trusting Rodgers to respond at home.
Nick Brinkerhoff: Bengals -3.5
The Steelers might be 1-1, but it's hard to feel inspired when that victory came against Cooper Rush. And it won't help that a struggling offense now has to battle the Bengals – who are proving to be the real deal thus far. Solid on both sides of the ball, Cincinnati is simply the better team. Mike Tomlin isn't walking through that door anytime soon, meaning we're finally seeing what the Steelers are and have been for quite some time. The Bengals roll in the Steel City.

This kind of line used to be an automatic bet for me when Mike Tomlin was on the sidelines in Pittsburgh. Nowadays I'm simply cautiously optimistic about it. Joe Burrow struggled under pressure against the Texans in Week 2, taking five sacks and finishing with a QBR of 54.3. The Steelers will turn up the pressure even more at home and make their division rival as uncomfortable as possible. That puts the spread in play. But without the hook, this line feels much less certain.
