The Los Angeles Rams are taking another shot at solving their kicking woes after their fallback plan went awry.
The team signed veteran Brandon McManus on Tuesday, Sept. 20, according to multiple reports.
McManus and fellow veteran Matt Prater worked out for the team earlier in the day.
The move comes just one day after Rams coach Sean McVay announced that Blake Grupe suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament while trying to make a tackle in the first quarter of an 18-16 loss to the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday.
Grupe had replaced kicker Harrison Mevis, who added to the team's growing special teams woes when he missed a 50-yard field goal attempt and had a 48-yard kick blocked in overtime of a 37-34 loss to the Buffalo Bills in a Week 5 "Monday
Night Football" tilt. The Rams cut Mevis one day later.
McManus, 35, spent the last two years with the Green Bay Packers. The team released the 12-year veteran in May as it prepared to hand the job to sixth-round rookie Trey Smack.
The Rams face the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday.
