Aaron Donald will return for the Los Angeles Rams, who will host the New York Giants on Monday Night Football, Sept. 21.
Donald has been away from the game for two years but returns with a chance to win another Super Bowl.
After winning the Super Bowl in the 2021 season, Donald played 27 games over the next two seasons before retiring. He played 11 games in 2022, when the Rams finished third in the NFC West with a 5-12 record.
The Rams finished second in the division last season with a 12-5 record, and their campaign ended in the NFC Championship Game.
The Rams are still listed as the top team with the best odds to win the Super Bowl but are also looking to regroup after a season-opening loss to the San Francisco 49ers in Australia last week.

USC quarterback Jaxson Dart (2021) returns to Southern California as the starting quarterback for the Giants. He led New York in a 28-20 victory over the Dallas Cowboys on Sept. 13, completing 23 of 29 passes for 230 yards and three touchdowns. He was sacked twice.
Veteran receiver Odell Beckham Jr. also returns to Los Angeles as a potential target for Dart. He won Super Bowl LVI with the Rams in 2022, catching the game’s first touchdown before tearing his ACL.

Donald could pose a problem for a New York offense led by its young core of Dart and Skattebo.
The Rams’ veteran defensive lineman did not play overseas in the season opener but is expected to be a much-needed contributor for a star-studded defense that’s already dealing with injuries.
The Rams’ defense appeared to struggle in Week 1 and the Giants’ could be ready to capitalize. Edge rusher Myles Garrett is out after knee surgery, taking some pressure off New York’s offensive line.
Look for the Giants’ attempt to contain and challenge Donald with a double team to see how he responds to his first live action.
Quarterback Matthew Stafford and the Rams' offense will need to take a step forward after producing just seven points against the 49ers. Stafford threw one interception and did not throw a touchdown. Stafford had thrown a touchdown in every game last season and had a streak of 18 games with a TD ended.
Stafford and the offense may be without top receiving target Puka Nacua, who is listed as questionable with a hip injury.
