TikTok is introducing a slew of new features to its video comment section.
On Sept. 3, TikTok announced four new comment section features that will allow its users to post audio messages, polls, multiple photos at once and Live Photos. Already, users can post text, photos and GIFs in a video's comments.
TikTok and its Chinese parent company ByteDance made headlines in August for agreeing to pay a $400 million settlement to resolve the U.S. Justice Department's allegations that the app violated children's online privacy. The companies were accused of violating a law that requires online platforms aimed at children to obtain parental consent to collect personal information from users under the age of 13.

What new features are coming to TikTok's comment section?
Here's a look at the four new features coming to TikTok's comment section, per a news release:
- Voice comments: Post audio messages up to 60 seconds long (only for users 18 and up).
- Comment polls: Creators can post polls directly in their video comments, letting followers vote on up to five different options. Creators can also set how long a poll lasts, and live results are shared in the comments.
- Photo carousel comments: Post up to nine photos in a single comment.
- Live Photo comments: Post Live Photos from your camera roll.
When will the new features release?
As of Sept. 3, comment polls and Live Photo comments are available to users globally. Voice comments and photo carousel comments will roll out globally over the next month.
