Texas Gov.-electGina Hinojosa will hold her first news conference after her historic victory.
Hinojosa, who defeated three-term Republican Gov. Greg Abbott, will address the public at 1 p.m. MT/2 p.m. CT on Thursday, Nov. 5. The news conference comes after what her campaign described as "successful initial conversations with Governor Abbott," according to a news release.
Her victory marks a historic milestone for Texas, making her the state's first Latina governor and its first Democratic governor since Ann Richards was elected in 1990.

Hinojosa, 52, a five-term state lawmaker from Austin, entered the race as an underdog against Abbott, who, USA TODAY previously reported, had never lost reelection by fewer than 11 percentage points.
Born in McAllen
and raised in Brownsville, Hinojosa comes from a prominent Texas Democratic family. Her father, Gilberto Hinojosa, chaired the Texas Democratic Party from 2012 to 2025.
