Amid reports that Sean "Diddy" Combs has been placed in solitary confinement, the rapper and businessman has seen his prison sentence shortened by a month.
The 56-year-old's release date moved up by a month, from Feb. 23, 2028, to Jan. 24, 2028, according to the U.S. Federal Bureau of Prisons' inmate records reviewed by USA TODAY on Wednesday, July 29.
When he was sentenced to 50 months in prison in October, Combs was scheduled to be released on May 8, 2028. The date has fluctuated multiple times throughout his incarceration. Inmates' anticipated release dates often shift, with good behavior, time served and participation in Evidence-Based Recidivism Reduction or Productive Activities as possible contributors to an earlier release.
However, a change
to Combs' release date in November saw the date pushed back by several months, to June 2028. Days prior, Combs' representative denied a report that claimed the Bad Boy Records founder had created and consumed alcohol in prison.
In a letter to the judge ahead of his sentencing, Combs said that in the months he'd been behind bars he got sober "for the first time in 25 years," had been attending therapy and started a mentorship program for his fellow inmates.
Combs has been incarcerated since his September 2024 arrest and is serving a 50-month prison sentence for his conviction on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution.
At the end of his two-month trial, in a bombshell split decision, a 12-person jury acquitted Combs of the most serious charges of racketeering and two counts of sex trafficking. Combs maintained his innocence throughout the case while also expressing regret for the domestic violence he'd inflicted against his former girlfriends, including Cassie Ventura Fine.
The rapper's lawyers are seeking to overturn his conviction.
Combs, who has denied all allegations of sexual misconduct, is still facing upwards of 70 civil lawsuits across the country.
