ChatGPT can now read and send iMessages.
On Aug. 20, OpenAI announced an update that lets ChatGPT search, read, and send iMessages on Mac computers. The new feature is a ChatGPT plugin, an add-on tool from
a third-party service.
In an X post promoting the update, ChatGPT said users can ask the chatbot to check their calendar and reply to a contact with times they are free for dinner plans, suggest follow-up responses to unread texts, detect spam and find birthdays from mentions in texts, allowing you to add them to a calendar.
By default, ChatGPT can send text messages once a user approves them. However, a user can toggle settings to approve all texts drafted by the chatbot.
Here's what we know about ChatGPT's new iMessage capabilities.
