Romelu Lukaku has found his next home.
Belgium's all-time leading scorer is now a member of Fenerbahçe in Turkey's Süper Lig, he announced in an Instagram post on Thursday, Aug. 13.
"Day 1 at this beautiful club," he wrote with a gallery featuring a photo of himself on a field in the club's blue and yellow training uniform and other promotional images. "Thank you for the love and the amazing messages. Time to get to work."
Fenerbahçe shared the news of Lukaku's signing a day earlier with a graphic that said, "Big Rom. Bigger Dreams" and he was welcomed at the airport by a throng of supporters.
The permanent transfer is a full circle moment for the 33-year-old who is leaving Napoli and spent time with Chelsea, Everton, Manchester United, Inter Milan
and AS Roma. His father, Roger Lukaku, played for Süper Lig club Gençlerbirliği in the 1990s. The Red Devils striker lived in Turkey as a toddler and he said that's where he "discovered the professional world." Roger Lukaku died in September 2025 at the age of 58.
"It's going to be special and very emotional moment to be back there," Romelu Lukaku said in an introduction video on Fenerbahçe's Instagram.
Lukaku also addressed his health in the clip.
"I'm fit, hundred percent ready to go," he said.
During the 2025-26 season with Napoli, Lukaku was plagued by injuries. In the World Cup, his fourth tournament, he mostly played off the bench for Belgium, but managed to score three goals. He came in as a substitute to score in the round of 16 match, a 4-1 victory over the United States. The game was marred by controversy as FIFA suspended Folarin Balogun's red card in the lead-up to the match. Belgium celebrated one of their goals by seemingly mocking U.S. President Donald Trump's dance.
Another World Cup star, Mo Salah, also joined the Süper Lig this summer and is now a member of Trabzonspor. The Egypt captain and Liverpool legend received a king's welcome upon his arrival to the club.
Before he fully dove into his next chapter, Lukaku expressed his appreciation for Napoli. He joined the Italian side in 2024 and won the Serie A title with them in 2025. He played with Red Devils teammate Kevin De Bruyne on the club for one season.
"Dear (N)apoli, Thank you for making me feel at home!" he wrote in an Instagram post with a photo of the team lifting the Serie A trophy. "Thank you for believing in a moment where (I) was with my back against the wall… We did amazing things and (I) will cherish them forever Forza (N)apoli sempre."
Napoli posted a video to the social media platform of Lukaku's highlights with the club to show their gratitude.
"For each ball defended, for each goal scored, thank you Romelu!" the caption said in Italian.
