Police in New York City are investigating after a school bus slammed into a residential building near Brooklyn on Thursday morning, Sept. 17.
Just after 7:20 a.m., emergency crews responded to a 911 call for a motor vehicle crash in the city's Crown Heights neighborhood, the New York Police Department told USA TODAY.
Arriving officers learned that the school bus, which they said was operated by a 65-year-old man, was traveling westbound on Eastern Parkway, a major tree-lined thoroughfare in the city, when it stuck the facade of a building.
The driver refused medical treatment at the scene, according to police.
There were no children on the bus at the time of the crash, the New York Fire Department told USA TODAY.

Firefighters said they evacuated the residential building as a precaution and notifind the city's Department of Buildings, which responded to the scene to evaluate the structure.
The cause of the crash remained under investigation.
