Traveling outside of Pittsburgh is about to get simpler.
Southwest Airlines is set to add new direct flights out of Pittsburgh International Airport. While the new routes won't be here in time for holiday travelers, PIT officials said in a press release that the additional flights would launch in summer 2027.

Southwest Airlines adds new direct destinations from Pittsburgh
Southwest is scheduled to add direct flights out of Pittsburgh International Airport to Panama City, Florida; Punta Cana, Dominican Republic; and Savannah, Georgia.
The additions will bring Southwest's total nonstop routes out of PIT to 25, the most of any airline, according to airport officials. The airline also carries the largest percentage of passengers at PIT, moving 26% of travelers. For comparison,
American Airlines moves 23% at PIT.
When do new Southwest flights from Pittsburgh start?
Southwest's new flights from Pittsburgh will launch on June 5, 2027. Direct flights will be on Saturdays only.
Southwest schedules more flights from PIT to these cities
The airline will also increase the frequency of their flights to four locations. The Destin-Fort Walton Beach, Florida flight, now a Saturday-only service, is set to become a daily service in summer 2027. Flights to Cancun, Mexico will be bumped up to about two per week. Daily flights will see a boost as well — routes to Tampa will jump to four a day, while flights to Las Vegas will go up to two a day.
