New M&M's flavors arrive all the time, but the newest flavor may especially appeal to fans of a certain Girl Scout cookie.
M&M’s Mint Crunchy Cookie, a new flavor inspired by mint cookies, is just now becoming available exclusively at Walmart. Each M&M piece "features a blend of smooth milk chocolate and cool, refreshing mint wrapped around a satisfying, crunchy cookie center," according to a description from the company.
The result? "A refreshing twist on a baked goods-inspired treat that brings a satisfying crunch to the lineup," the brand's description says. The candy also recalls another limited-edition M&M release, 2022's Crunchy Cookie, the company said.
The candies will be available in two sizes – 2.83-ounce Share Size and a 7.4-ounce Sharing
Size – and will be available at Walmart stores and on Walmart.com.
Those who have got an early taste of the M&M's said the taste of the candies definitely smack of Thin Mint cookies. At The Kitch, a cooking and food website, most of those who tried the M&M's "agreed with the comparison to the popular Girl Scout cookie," wrote Celia Funderburk.
"They remind me of Thin Mints when you eat them straight out of the freezer," The Kitch's assistant culinary producer Topher Leo said, she wrote.
"It's pretty clear based on the cookie image on the packaging that M&M's was going for a Thin Mints-esque flavor profile," wrote Julia Duda on the TastingTable website. "Between the sweet mint flavor, the classic M&M's chocolate coating, and the crunchy cookie interior, I'd say the brand accomplished the task at hand."
Snack-loving social media folks have already been posting about the candies, with most mentioning the Thin Mints connection. "They immediately reminded me of the Girl Scout Thin Mint Cookies," according to one post.
'Practical Magic 2' M&M's
Speaking of new M&M's, there's another special release on the way: The limited-edition Amas Veritas Spell & Snack Pack, celebrating the Sept. 10 theatrical release of "Practical Magic 2," which stars Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock.
The new film is a sequel to the 1998 film. The new M&M's snack pack pays tribute to a scene in that film when a young Sally Owens (played by Camilla Belle) recites the "Amas Veritas" love charm. (Bullock plays Sally Owens in the new film.)
The collectible pack of the special milk chocolate M&M's, which have magical spell markings on them, can be claimed by purchasing an M&M’s Milk Chocolate Fun Size Sharing Bag on the M&M's website at midnight (12 a.m. ET/9 p.m. PT) on Thursday, Sept. 3 and Sept. 14, while supplies last.
