LONDON – Duchess Meghan's phone number has been leaked.
The privacy breach came shortly after Meghan joined a Whatsapp group for parents at Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet's new school, USA TODAY understands. The leak came after the Sussex children were forced to change schools amid ongoing security concerns.
While gearing up to send the Sussex children to their second school this month, the duchess was added to a Whatsapp group created for parents. The Sun newspaper shared what is believed to be a screenshot taken from the group that showed the royal mother-of-two being welcomed into the chat.
“Welcome to Meghan who has Archie joining tomo," one parent wrote, while another sent a message saying "welcome." A reply from Meghan read: “Hi moms!
Thanks for the warm welcome. So happy to be a part of this community xx”
It is unclear who in the group leaked Meghan's phone number and if the duchess will rejoin the parents' communication group.
On Monday, Sept. 14, a representative for the couple told USA TODAY that Meghan and Harry made the decision to pull their children out of their original school after just two days was based on "a discussion" with their security team "about the practicalities of their current arrangements." Heavy traffic in the area was making it hard for the Sussex convoy to stay together during school pickups and drop-offs, Hello! Magazine reported citing sources close to the couple.
"The parents remain extremely grateful to all the teachers and staff for the love, care and effort they have shown their family," the Sussex representative said. "This decision should in no way be interpreted as a reflection on the school or the exceptional care the children have received there."
The school drama comes just weeks after Harry and Meghan left their home in California and moved back to the duke's home country, six years after announcing they were stepping back from their roles as senior royals. The decision stunned both sides of the Atlantic, stirring mixed reactions.
While the location of the couple's new family home has not been publicly shared, the pair are believed to have settled in the Cotswolds, a sprawling area of English countryside, around two hours from London.
Shortly after the Sussexes returned, King Charles surprised the couple with a letter that made it clear that while they had moved back to Britain, there would be absolutely no change to their royal status. The couple will remain non-working royals and will not be carrying out any official royal engagements on behalf of the sovereign, the document said.
