I'm a native Minnesotan, so I am no stranger to snow. In fact, my friends and I have been taking bets on when the first snow storm will blow in this winter. While it's not yet hitting the Twin Cities, homeowners in the Central states are gearing up for the first snow.
If you're in Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, Nebraska, South Dakota or North Dakota, you're in the line of the first snow storm of the season, and I hope your snow gear, shovels and snow blowers are dusted off and ready to go. But if you aren't yet prepared, there's still time to get these items before the storm hits.

Some people don't mind shoveling or have such a small sidewalk to clear that it doesn't matter, but if you're like me and have a long driveway and minimal time, a snow
blower is a must have. I looked at all the best deals, and found some snow blowers that are not only still available to ship to your home, but are on sale to boot.

What to look for in a snow blower
When shopping for a snow blower, there are a few things you should keep in mind. The power source is likely a good place to start, and if you want some added features like hand warmers and push start, then you'll want to look intently at product features and specs.
- Number of stages: Snow blowers come in single-stage, two-stage or even three stages. Single-stage snowblowers are fine for lighter snow up to six to nine inches, but you'll want a two stage if you live in a place where you might get over a foot of snow.
- Power source: Snow blowers are either powered by gas or electricity, and you can find either corded or cordless (battery-operated) snow blower models. The right one for you depends on a few factors, like if you expect heavy, wet snow (I'd go gas-powered) or have a smaller driveway or patio to clear (In that case electric is all you likely need).
- Added features: Heated hand grips and LED lights are great comfort features, but you may also want power steering for easier maneuverability, push buttons for easy starting, or chute control so that you can determine where to throw the snow.
How we build our lists of best snow blowers
I've been clearing snow for decades, and know that a quality snow blower is an important tool in any homeowner's garage.
