A new actor has arrived, and the internet is giddy over him.
Cornell Young IV has captured hearts in his breakout role in "A Different World," the modern revival of the classic sitcom that aired from 1987-1993.
Young plays Shaquille Johnson, a quarterback at Hillman College, described as "confident as hell and determined to make history," according to Netflix. He also appeared in Tyler Perry's film, "Doing Life," and Mara Brock Akil's "Forever."
Since coming on the scene, fans have been giving the 26-year-old heart eyes on social media.
"Cornell Young IV is fine as frog hair," one person wrote.
Another wrote on X, "Cornell Young IV you are the finest
man i ever seen."
In response to a video about the actor, one person stated, "He's so real because Shaquille (Cornell Young IV) so clean cut, well groomed, well dressed, GREAT TEETH…and I KNOW he smell good."
Cornell Young IV says he relates to his 'A Different World' character
Hailing from St. Louis, Young said he relates to his character, Shaquille, because he was a college athlete who played football at McKendree University. He revealed that he eventually started gaining an interest in theater.
"I was real-life Troy Bolton," Young told Netflix, referring to the main character in the "High School Musical" franchise played by Zac Efron. "How Troy would leave basketball practice and go to rehearsal? I was doing that. I had my football buddies pull up to my plays. They were sitting in the front row trying to make me laugh."
According to the streamer, Young has six other siblings. He has a twin brother named David, who has supported Young and also gained attention from fans.
"Twin, I couldn't be more proud of you. I've watched you work hard, stay resilient, and remain patient with a silent knowing that this moment would come. Your moment," Davidwrote about his brother in an Instagram carousel with photos from the "A Different World" premiere.
"You deserve it all king. Keep shining your light, the world needs it."
Will there be 'A Different World' Season 2?
Netflix recently announced that the show has been renewed for a second season.
In the next chapter, the Hillman students will return for their sophomore year prepared to face "past decisions, uncertain futures, new loves and friendships, and deeper questions of purpose… all while, of course, getting themselves into a whole lot of new mess," a logline from Netflix reads.
