From the Midwest to the Military
Robin Littau was born and raised in South Dakota, where she describes herself as a "country girl at heart" who grew up around livestock and rodeos. At the age of 18, she enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard, where she served from 1997 to 2001 as a diesel mechanic. During her service, she was stationed in Alameda and Bodega Bay, California. Littau was the only woman at her Search and Rescue station in Bodega Bay and received a life-saving medal and a September 11th medal for her time in the service.
Civilian Life, Family, and Business
After her military service, Littau spent 15 years as a stay-at-home wife and homeschool mother to four children in Sacramento. Following a divorce in 2016, she moved to Redding, California, to raise her children as a single mother. To support her family,
she started her own cleaning company from scratch, which she has successfully managed for nearly a decade. She is also involved in publishing a local magazine called Joyful Living. Her experience as a small business owner has informed her understanding of the regulatory challenges faced by entrepreneurs.
Community Activism and Faith
Littau is a devout Christian, a commitment she made at age 20 that she says gives her life purpose. Her faith has been a driving force behind her extensive community involvement in Redding. Over the years, she has created a support group for single mothers, mentored women in crisis, taught self-defense to children, and hosted a weekly home group for at-risk youth. In 2024, her work was recognized with the Mary Beth Weiss Award from The Policy Circle for her community leadership.
Entry into Politics
Littau’s formal entry into politics began with her election to the Enterprise Elementary School District board, where she currently serves. In this role, she has focused on asking tough questions about fiscal accountability and district policy. She has described herself as committed to transparency and engaging with parents who she felt were underrepresented in board meetings. This experience in local governance served as a springboard for her decision to seek higher office.
2026 Congressional Candidacy
In 2026, Robin Littau is running as the Republican candidate for the U.S. House to represent California's 2nd Congressional District, facing incumbent Democrat Jared Huffman. Littau advanced from the primary election on June 2, 2026. She is running on a platform centered on protecting the "American Dream," defending freedom, and bringing a community-focused perspective to Washington D.C. Her campaign emphasizes her diverse background as a veteran, mother, small business owner, and elected school board member as qualifications for the role.
