From Tech Professional to Congressional Candidate
Victoria Broderick is the Democratic Party candidate running for the U.S. House to represent Tennessee's 4th Congressional District in the November 3, 2026, general election. She advanced from the Democratic primary on August 6, 2026. Before entering politics, her career was in the technology and logistics sector, where she worked as a sourcing coordinator, solutions analyst, and in customer support. This background in what she calls "real-world problem-solving" is a cornerstone of her political identity. Born in Tampa, Florida, and a graduate of Austin Peay University, Broderick presents herself not as a career politician, but as a working-class mother motivated to run for office by national events that directly impacted her life.
A Political Awakening
Broderick
pinpoints her entry into politics to a specific moment: the 2022 Supreme Court decision that overturned Roe v. Wade. She was on maternity leave at the time, and has described the decision as a catalyst. In her own words, she “sprang into action.” This led her to start a TikTok account called "The Friendly Neighborhood Liberal" to educate voters, and she soon became the chair of the Lincoln County Democratic Party. Her path to becoming a candidate was solidified in 2024 when she discovered the incumbent in her district was set to run unopposed, prompting her to enter the race to ensure voters had a choice.
The Platform: 'Safety, Affordability, Freedom, and Equity'
Broderick is running on a platform she summarizes with four words: Safety, Affordability, Freedom, and Equity. Her key policy positions are heavily influenced by her experience as a working mother. She advocates for universal healthcare, affordable housing, and raising the minimum wage. A central plank of her campaign is reproductive freedom, which she describes as a matter of personal and bodily autonomy. She also supports eliminating tax subsidies for the wealthy and expanding social supports like paid family leave and the child tax credit. As a gun owner, she calls for common-sense action to address gun violence.
The Campaign Trail and Career Record
Broderick first ran for the same seat in 2024, losing in the general election but gaining what her campaign describes as valuable name recognition and momentum. She quickly filed to run again for the 2026 cycle. In her 2024 race, she raised over $120,000, primarily in small-dollar donations, while working full-time. Her professional record includes roles at companies like Time Logistics and 37signals, experiences she says inform her approach to solving complex problems. A mother to two young boys and a foster volunteer with her local humane society, Broderick's personal life is deeply integrated into her public persona as a candidate who understands the daily struggles of working families in her district.
