Stock Market closing on December 15: The benchmark Indian equity indices Sensex and Nifty ended almost flat on Monday, December 15, 2025. The BSE Sensex,
after hitting an intraday low of 84,840.32, ended the session at 85,213.36, down 54.30 points or 0.06 per cent. The NSE Nifty50 settled at 26,027.30, down 19.65 points or 0.08 per cent. During the day Nifty50 swung between 26,047.15 and 25,904.75. Sensex and Nifty opened in red today. The BSE Sensex started at 84,891.75, while the Nifty 50 opened at 25,930.05.

Here are the reasons what are influencing the stock market:The rupee fell to a fresh record low of 90.6 against the US dollar on Monday, marking its third straight session of new lows. Delayed India-US trade talks, weak capital inflows and other pressures weighed on the currency.
Indian markets continue to face heavy foreign outflows, with foreign institutional investors staying net sellers on Friday. They sold equities worth Rs 10,719.95 crore against purchases of Rs 10,323.69 crore.
Global markets closed lower on Friday, ending the session on a negative note.
Broader market performance
In the broader markets, the Nifty Midcap 100 index tumbled 0.12 per cent, while the Nifty Smallcap 100 ended 0.21 per cent higher. According to NSE website, a total of 1,667 stocks advanced, 1,471 declined and 100 remain unchanged.
Top gainers & losers
Among Sensex firms, Mahindra and Mahindra (M&M) declined the most, by over 1.9 per cent. Maruti Suzuki, Adani Ports, Bajaj Finserv, Titan, HDFC Bank, Bharti Airtel, Bajaj Finance, Power Grid, NTPC, TMPV, Ultratech Cement and Tech Mahindra were also among the losers.
Meanwhile, Hindustan Unilever, Trent, HCL Technologies, Asian Paints, Tata Steel, Infosys, ITC, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Larsen and Turbo (L&T), Kotak Mahindra Bank and SBI were among the gainers.
52-week highs and lows
A total of 132 stocks touched their 52-week highs, while 150 stocks slipped to 52-week lows during the session. Moreover, during the trade on Monday -- 235 stocks hit the upper circuit, while 194 shares were in the lower circuit, as per the BSE website.
