What is the story about?
Silver Price Today In India, 7 April 2026: Silver prices opened on a steady note on Tuesday, April 7, as geopolitical tensions escalated following Iran’s
rejection of a ceasefire proposal with the US. As of 9:30 am, silver futures on the Multi-Commodity Exchange were trading 0.1 per cent higher at Rs 2,33,498. International spot silver remained largely unchanged at around USD 72.81 per ounce, moving between an intraday high of USD 73.30 and a low of USD 71.64.
Rising US-Iran Tensions
On the geopolitical front, former President Donald Trump warned of severe consequences for Tehran if a deal to reopen a major global energy route was not finalised by Tuesday. Iran, however, declined the immediate reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, citing insufficient US commitment to a lasting ceasefire.
Impact on Oil and Inflation
The geopolitical tensions caused a sharp spike in oil prices, with WTI crude trading around USD 114 and Brent crude near USD 110. The surge in oil prices has raised concerns about global inflation, which reduces the probability of interest rate cuts and has exerted pressure on gold prices.
Market Focus Shifts to US Economic Data
In addition to geopolitical events, market participants are now turning their attention to the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting minutes scheduled for Wednesday, April 8. Upcoming inflation reports later this week are also expected to provide guidance on the potential path of future interest rate adjustments.
