What is the story about?
The Maharashtra government has given beneficiaries of the Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana an additional opportunity to correct and complete their e-KYC details till March 31, after receiving complaints about errors made during the initial digital verification process.
State Women and Child Development Minister Aditi Tatkare said the extension aims to ensure that eligible women do not miss out on benefits due to procedural mistakes.
The move comes after several beneficiaries reported that they had inadvertently selected incorrect options while completing their e-KYC on the official portal.
Who is eligible under the scheme?
Launched in June 2024, the flagship welfare programme provides ₹1,500 per month through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to women aged between 21 and 65 years, subject to certain conditions:
Officials said the e-KYC process is mandatory every year to prevent duplication, eliminate ineligible claims and ensure seamless fund transfers.
How beneficiaries can complete or correct e-KYC
Women who have already applied but have not yet received payments can complete or rectify their details online through the state portal. The process involves the following steps:
The government has clarified that beneficiaries do not need to visit any office unless specifically requested; the process can be done digitally.
Why the correction window matters
According to officials, many eligible women were left out due to minor technical errors such as mismatched Aadhaar details, incorrect ration card numbers, or wrong income declarations. The reopened window is expected to help thousands of applicants regularise their records and start receiving payments.
Tatkare reiterated that the department’s priority is universal coverage of eligible beneficiaries under the scheme and urged women to complete corrections before the March 31 deadline to avoid delays in future disbursements.
