Net inflows into equity mutual fund schemes declined 6% month-on-month to ₹28,035 crore in December from ₹29,894 crore in November, according to data released by the Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI).
The mutual fund industry’s total assets under management (AUM) stood at ₹80.23 lakh crore at the end of December, down from ₹80.80 lakh crore in the previous month.
Within equity categories, large-cap funds recorded net inflows of ₹1,567.4 crore during the month compared with ₹1,640 crore in November. Small-cap fund inflows moderated to ₹3,824 crore from ₹4,407 crore, while mid-cap funds saw net inflows of ₹4,176 crore versus ₹4,487 crore in the preceding month.
Among other categories, liquid funds saw net outflows of ₹47,307.95 crore in December, sharply higher than outflows of ₹14,050 crore in November. Corporate bond funds also reported net outflows of ₹7,419.51 crore during the month, compared with inflows of ₹1,525 crore in the previous month.
Sectoral and thematic funds witnessed net inflows of ₹946 crore in December, lower than ₹1,865 crore recorded in November. Equity-linked savings schemes (ELSS) saw net outflows of ₹718 crore, compared with outflows of ₹570.2 crore in the prior month.
Exchange-traded funds (ETFs) recorded net inflows of ₹13,199.44 crore during December, up from ₹9,721 crore in November. Gold ETFs saw a sharp rise in inflows at ₹11,646.74 crore, compared with ₹3,742 crore in the previous month.
Hybrid funds attracted net inflows of ₹10,755.57 crore in December, lower than ₹13,299 crore recorded in November. Credit risk funds saw net outflows of ₹172.61 crore during the month versus ₹118 crore in November, while dividend yield funds reported net outflows of ₹254.30 crore compared with ₹278 crore earlier.
New fund offers (NFOs) garnered inflows of ₹4,074 crore in December, up from ₹3,126 crore in the preceding month, AMFI data showed.
