What is the story about?
State Bank of India(SBI) has announced a special personal loan scheme for Agniveers, coinciding with the 79th Independence Day. The scheme is available to Agniveers with salary accounts at SBI, offering loans of up to ₹4 lakh without
collateral and a complete waiver of processing fees.
The repayment tenure will match the duration of the Agnipath recruitment programme.
The bank is also offering a flat interest rate of 10.50% to all defence personnel under the scheme until September 30, 2025.
According to SBI, the initiative builds on its Defence Salary Package, which offers benefits such as zero-balance accounts, free international gold debit cards, unlimited free ATM transactions at SBI ATMs nationwide, waiver of annual maintenance charges on debit cards, personal
accident insurance of ₹50 lakh, air accident insurance of ₹1 crore, and permanent disability coverage of up to ₹50 lakh.
SBI, the country’s largest bank, had a deposit base of ₹54.73 lakh crore and advances of ₹42.54 lakh crore as of June 2025. The bank operates 22,980 branches, 62,200 ATMs/ADWMs, and over 76,800 BC outlets in India.
