A deadline is approaching for Amazon customers who want to claim payments in a class action settlement against the online retail giant.
Amazon shoppers who had issues with their refunds over a period of almost nine years between 2017 and 2026 may be eligible to claim payments in a class action settlement relating to these issues.
There are two subclasses included in the settlement; members of one subclass will not need to file to receive a payment, though they will need to choose a payment method. Members of the other, however, will be required to submit a claim in order to receive a payout, with the deadline for such claims approaching towards the end of the year.
Here's everything to know about the settlement, receiving payments and more.
What is the Amazon class action settlement for?
This
settlement is related to alleged refunding issues from Sept. 5, 2017, to Feb. 12, 2026. Plaintiffs in the case allege that Amazon's return policies and other practices violated consumer protections, which the company denies.
Who is eligible for the Amazon class action settlement?
If you requested a refund or initiated a return on a physical product through Amazon between Sept. 5, 2017 and Feb. 12, 2026, you may be included in the suit's settlement class. You will be eligible to claim if you were incorrectly charged after receiving a refund, if you did not receive a refund or if you received an incorrect or untimely refund.
Settlement Class members will fall into two subclasses. Settlement subclass A includes various transactions eligible for full refunds and interest payments, while subclass B includes transactions other than those included in Subclass A; Members must submit a claim to show that their transactions "more likely than not" fit into the settlement class.
Those who are eligible likely received a court-authorized notice regarding the settlement. If you're not sure you're a class member, you can contact the settlement administrator at 1-888-553-4246.
