
The 2026 Western North Carolina high school fall sports season is entering its third month, October.
Before looking ahead, it's time to vote for September's AdventHealth Western North Carolina boys Team of the Month.
Vote for the WNC boys team that had the best performance this month. This poll closes on Oct. 1 at 1 p.m.
Enka football: The Jets have been arguably the top storyline during the WNC high school football season so far, starting 5-0, including wins over Cherokee and Pisgah.
Franklin soccer: Franklin has gone 5-1 in September. Its only loss was a 3-2 defeat to Enka on Sept. 2. Kevin Torres has tallied eight goals to lead the Panthers.
Mountain Heritage football: The Cougars went undefeated in September at 3-0, with a 14-11 win over Robbinsville,
a 43-10 victory over Madison and a forfeit win over Swain County.
Owen soccer: The Warhorses went 4-1-1 in September. They have outscored Western Highlands Conference opponents 29-1 through four games.
Reynolds soccer: The Rockets have remained undefeated through September. However, they earned a 1-1 draw against Christ School on Sept. 2. John Partridge has recorded 24 goals, ranking 13th best in the country.
Roberson soccer: The Rams went 6-1 this month, with their only loss coming to Newton-Conover on Sept. 15. They also outscored opponents 26-3 in September.
Smoky Mountain football: The Mustangs started the season 5-0 before suffering their first loss to Tuscola in Week 6. Running back Rylee Smith led Smoky Mountain off to a strong start, rushing for 825 yards and 14 touchdowns on 67 carries.
Tuscola football: Running back Sam Trantham has led the Mountaineers to a 6-0 record so far. He has rushed for 1,270 yards and 19 touchdowns on 132 carries, which ranks 13th nationally.
