The 2026 North Carolina high school football season is entering Week 7 with only a handful of weeks left until the postseason.
Only four teams remain undefeated in Western North Carolina after Christ School
and Smoky Mountain lost to Asheville School and Tuscola. Another unbeaten team is set to fall when No. 3 Franklin travels to No. 2 Tuscola on Oct. 2.

1. Hendersonville (5-0, 1-0 Western Highlands Conference)
Hendersonville's defense is holding opponents to 12 points per game. Defensive lineman Sebastian Jacobs and defensive back Mateo Archer lead the Bearcats. Jacobs has 54 tackles with 15 for a loss. Archer has recorded three interceptions.
This week: at Madison (1-5). Last week: No. 1
Tuscola (6-0, 3-0 Mountain Eight Conference)
Running back Sam Trantham rushed for over 260 yards for the fourth time in six games. He ran for 264 yards and three touchdowns on 30 carries to lead the Mountaineers to a 41-13 win over No. 9 Smoky Mountain.
This week: vs. No. 3 Franklin (6-0). Last week: No. 3.
3. Franklin (6-0, 3-0 Mountain Eight Conference)
The Franklin defense has allowed no more than one touchdown in a game this season. It shut out Pisgah 38-0 on Sept. 25. Defensive lineman Daiveon Hall recorded 11 tackles with one for a loss, a sack, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery in the victory.
This week: at No. 2 Tuscola (6-0). Last week: No. 2.
4. Roberson (4-1)
Quarterback Karod Harris has completed 66% of his passes for 884 yards and 16 touchdowns, with five interceptions and has run for 399 yards and four touchdowns on 47 carries to lead Roberson off a strong start.
This week: vs. No. 5 Asheville High (4-1). Last week: No. 4.
5. Asheville High (4-1)
Quarterback Tay Williams led the Cougars to a 41-26 win vs. Watauga, completing 14 of 20 passes for 186 yards and a touchdown while running for 57 yards and three touchdowns on five carries.
This week: at No. 4 Roberson (4-1). Last week: No. 5.
6. Enka (5-0)
Linebacker Grady Allison leads an Enka defense that has allowed nine points per game this season. He has racked up 35 tackles with seven for a loss and two sacks.
This week: at North Buncombe (4-1). Last week: No. 8.
7. Asheville School (4-2)
Running back Shiloh Mukendi ran for 399 yards and five touchdowns on 27 carries to lead the Blues to a 41-34 win over archrival Christ School. His performance gives him 1,609 rushing yards this season, the third-best total in the country.
This week: Open. Last week: No. 9.
8. Christ School (5-1)
Quarterback Mak Anderson came up just short of leading the Greenies to a victory over No. 7 Asheville School. He completed 17 of 24 passes for 306 yards and three touchdowns while running for 83 yards and two touchdowns on 18 carries in the 41-34 loss.
This week: Open. Last week: No. 6.
9. Smoky Mountain (5-1, 2-1 Mountain Eight Conference)
Running back Rylee Smith still managed 160 yards and two touchdowns on 22 carries despite Smoky Mountain's offensive struggles in a 41-13 loss to No. 2 Tuscola on Sept. 25.
This week: vs. Brevard (0-5). Last week: No. 7.
10. Erwin (3-2)
Quarterback Caden Ingle has reinserted himself back into the conversation for top passer in WNC this season. He has thrown for 1,074 yards and 15 touchdowns with one interception while completing 62% of his passes. He also has run for 285 yards and three touchdowns on 38 carries.
This week: vs. Reynolds (1-4). Last week: No. 10.
