Week 2 of the 2026 North Carolina high school football season is in the rearview mirror.
Here is a list of WNC players who stood out during Week 2.
Brenton Miller, Asheville High: Miller blocked the potential game-winning 35-yard field goal to seal a 32-21 win over Dobyns-Bennett (Tennessee)
Tay Williams, Asheville High: Williams scored the game-winning touchdown with a 1-yard run in the victory.
Makorean Anderson, Christ School: Anderson threw four touchdown passes and ran for another in a 50-14 win vs. East Rutherford.
Brayden Crain, Christ School: Crain caught 16- and 25-yard touchdown passes in the win.
Dre'Shun Smith, Christ School: Smith caught
a 66-yard and 13-yard touchdown pass in the win.
Jay Gentry, Erwin: Gentry recorded an interception in a 30-28 win vs. Mountain Heritage.
Caden Ingle, Erwin: Ingle completed 12 of 20 passes for 151 yards and a touchdown and also ran for 96 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries in the victory.
Gabriel Leonardo, Erwin: Leonardo hit a game-winning 31-yard field goal to secure the win.
Kobe Lunsford, Erwin: Lunsford caught three passes for 87 yards and a touchdown and also returned a kick 69 yards for a touchdown in the victory.
Mateo Archer, Hendersonville: Archer had an interception in a 33-7 win vs. West Henderson.
Jordan Buford, Hendersonville: Buford ran for 89 yards and two touchdowns on 13 carries in the win.
Ace Smith, Hendersonville: Smith caught four passes for 74 yards in the victory.
JaRon Ward, Hendersonville: Ward completed 16 of 30 passes for 246 yards and two touchdowns while running for another in the win.
Jaylon Wynn, Hendersonville: Wynn caught four passes for 116 yards and a touchdown in the victory.
Jackson Banks, Mountain Heritage: Banks ran for 71 yards on eight carries and caught a 27-yard touchdown pass in a 30-28 loss vs. Erwin.
Brayden Deyton, Mountain Heritage: Deyton ran for 137 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries in the loss.
Ervine Rodriguez, Mountain Heritage: Rodriguez ran for 153 yards and two touchdowns on 30 carries.
Isaiah Cash, West Henderson: Cash ran for 46 yards on eight carries and caught a 68-yard touchdown pass in the 33-7 loss vs. Hendersonville.
