The dust has settled on Week 1 of the 2026 North Carolina High School Athletic Association football season.
Here is a list of WNC players who stood out during Week 1.
Jaydyn McElreath, Enka: McElreath rushed for 64 yards and a touchdown on nine carries in a 28-14 win vs. North Henderson.
Tommy McKinney, Enka: McKinney ran for 139 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries.
Zarious Flythe, Erwin: Flythe recovered two fumbles in the 34-21 loss vs. West Henderson.
Caden Ingle, Erwin: Ingle completed 22 of 30 passes for 228 yards and three touchdowns in the defeat.
Jackson Summey, Erwin: Summey caught six passes for 98 yards and three touchdowns in the loss.
Jackson Banks, Mountain Heritage: Banks ran for 130 yards and two touchdowns on five carries and caught
two passes for 45 yards in the 48-30 loss vs. Pisgah.
Brayden Deyton, Mountain Heritage: Deyton ran for 171 yards and two touchdowns on 11 carries and completed four of seven passes for 78 yards in the loss.
Parker Willis, North Henderson: Willis ran for 69 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries in a 28-14 loss vs. Enka.
Easton Frady, Pisgah: Frady ran for 121 yards and three touchdowns on 26 carries in a 48-30 win vs. Mountain Heritage.
Zaiden Monteith, Pisgah: Monteith ran for 132 yards and two touchdowns on 17 carries in the victory.
Ayden Rana, Pisgah: Rana ran for 42 yards and a touchdown on five carries and caught three passes for 61 yards in the win.
Tillman Farma, Tuscola: Farma recovered a fumble and returned it for a touchdown in a 23-0 win vs. Robbinsville.
Sam Trantham, Tuscola: Trantham ran for 89 yards and a touchdown in the victory.
Blake Garrett, West Henderson: Garrett completed 18 of 25 passes for 184 yards and three touchdowns and ran for 127 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries in a 34-21 win vs. Erwin.
Sammy Holloman, West Henderson: Holloman caught two passes for 58 yards and a touchdown and returned a fumble for another touchdown in the win.
Adrien Kuh, West Henderson: Kuh caught nine passes for 71 yards and two touchdowns in the victory.
