The National Weather Service is calling for another rainy weekend in the Western North Carolina region.
Chances of precipitation and thunderstorms have increased over the past several days, according to the weather service's predictions. Highest chances of rainfall is on Saturday, Aug. 15, beginning at 2 p.m. and continuing through at least 11 p.m. Similar forecasts have been made for other areas of Western N.C., including Hendersonville.

A 20% chance of showers and thunderstorms is expected during the daytime hours on Thursday, Aug. 13, in Asheville and surrounding areas, leading into a 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. and before the evening hours on Friday.
Further
chances of showers continue Saturday, Aug. 15, beginning at 2 p.m., with a 60% chance of precipitation including possible thunderstorms continuing through at least 11 p.m. On Sunday, Aug. 16, a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms is predicted between 3 and 8 p.m.
Thunderstorm warning in Asheville, NC
An alert issued by the National Weather Service at 1:24 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 13, calls for a strong thunderstorm expected to impact northeastern Henderson and Southeastern Buncombe Counties through 2:15 p.m. Weather service radar tracked the thunderstorms 5 miles southwest of Downtown Asheville over Bent Creek, moving southeast at 15 mph.
The weather service warned that gusty winds created by the storm could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects, with minor hail damage to outdoor objects also possible. Impacted locations include Hendersonville, Asheville, Arden, West Asheville, Mills River, Fletcher, Fairview in Buncombe County, Mountain Home, Biltmore Forest and Bent Creek.
