The 2026 Western North Carolina high school football season is in full tilt entering Week 3.
Running back Sam Trantham led Tuscola to a 55-21 win over Cherokee in the lone top-10 matchup in Week 2. WNC has one top-10 matchup in Enka at Pisgah this week.
Here are our Super 10 Western North Carolina high school football rankings ahead of Week 3.
1. Roberson (2-0)
The Rams delivered a well-rounded performance in a 41-14 win over Watauga, the defending state champions, on Aug. 28. Wide receiver Tristan Thompson-Wynn caught seven passes for 152 yards and four
touchdowns while linebacker Riddock Dinwiddie racked up 22 tackles with one for a loss and a forced fumble in the win.
This week: at South Point (2-0). Last week: No. 1.
2. Hendersonville (2-0)
The Bearcats' defense held rival West Henderson to one touchdown in a 33-7 win on Aug. 28. Defensive back Mateo Archer intercepted a pass and recovered two fumbles in the victory.
This week: vs. North Henderson (0-2). Last week: No. 2.
3. Asheville High (2-0)
The Cougars overcame a nine-point deficit to defeat Dobyns-Bennett (Tenn.) 32-31. Quarterback Tay Williams and lineman Brenton Miller came up clutch in the win. Williams scored the go-ahead touchdown late in the fourth quarter. Miller blocked the potential game-winning field goal.
This week: vs. Crest (2-0). Last week: No. 3.
4. Franklin (2-0)
Quarterback Anderson Terrell completed 14 of 18 passes for 167 yards and three touchdowns in a 31-7 win over Robbinsville. Wide receivers Gabe Harrison and Lance Parker combined for 11 catches, 129 yards and two touchdowns as well.
This week: vs. Swain County (0-2). Last week: No. 4.
5. Tuscola (2-0)
The Mountaineers reminded Western North Carolina they have one of the best running back duos in the area in a 55-21 win over Cherokee. Trantham and running back Ty Walker combined for 292 yards and five touchdowns on 29 carries.
This week: at South Caldwell (1-1). Last week: No. 6.
6. Christ School (2-0)
Quarterback Mak Anderson threw four touchdown passes and ran for another in a 50-14 win over East Rutherford. Tight end Brayden Crain also caught two touchdown passes.
This week: at Harrells Christian Academy. Last week: No. 5.
7. Smoky Mountain (2-0)
Smoky Mountain is averaging 52 points through two games. Running back Rylee Smith and quarterback Jaxon Cooper have combined for 491 yards and eight touchdowns on 35 carries so far this season.
This week: vs. Forestview (0-2). Last week: No. 8.
8. Pisgah (2-0)
Running back Zaiden Monteith helped the Bears secure a 42-12 win over Swain County. He ran for 152 yards and three touchdowns on six carries.
This week: vs. Enka. Last week: No. 9.
9. Enka (2-0)
The Jets dominated Hayesville 49-6 to move to 2-0 this season. Their defense is allowing 10 points per game so far in 2026.
This week: at No. 8 Pisgah. Last week: Unranked.
10. Asheville School (1-1)
Quarterback Gavin Marsh impressed in a 48-21 win over Knoxville Webb (Tenn.). He completed 12 of 16 passes for 177 yards and four touchdowns. Wide receiver Isiah Wallace caught three passes for 120 yards and two touchdowns.
This week: vs. R-S Central (2-0). Last week: Unranked.
