, also ranks K-12 schools, graduate schools and places to live. When ranking livability, Niche assesses "several key factors," including quality of local public schools, crime rates, housing trends, employment statistics and access to amenities.

North Carolina places ranked A+ this year were mainly suburbs and neighborhoods in the Charlotte area, with the Raleigh area also featuring heavily. The first N.C. location in Niche's overall best places to live in the U.S. was Cary, which placed at No. 80 of the 18,104 ranked locations.
