What is the story about?

Reynolds defensive back Zion Ikeme is heading back to Christ School and reclassifying to the class of 2028 from 2027.

He announced his decision to transfer to the Greenies from Reynolds on Instagram on July 31. Christ School coach Clint Alexander confirmed his transfer in a text message to the Citizen Times.

Ikeme intercepted four passes while recording 39 tackles, three pass deflections, two fumble recoveries and a forced fumble with the Rockets last season. He helped Reynolds go 7-5 and finish second in the Mountain Athletic Conference and reach the second round of the NCHSAA 6A playoffs.

This will be his second stint with Christ School. He transferred from Reynolds to the Greenies after the 2023 season.

Ikeme is one of the top defensive backs

in Western North Carolina. He was named All-WNC Third Team in 2023 and 2025.
